

Who We Are
Meals on Wheels: We are a non-profit, volunteer member of Meals on Wheels Association of America providing meal delivery for people of any age or income who are unable to prepare a nutritious, balanced meal for themselves on a short or long term basis. Volunteers deliver a hot & cold meals to provide up to 7 days worth of food (weekend meals are delivered on Fridays). We provide regular, diabetic & low sodium diets at a cost based on your monthly income. We currently serve Farmington and Unionville residents.
Congregate Meals: This is a great way for you to get out with your friends, eat an affordable meal and socialize with other seniors from the area. Join us on Mondays & Fridays at 12 noon at the Farmington Senior Center. The cost is $3.00 per meals and reservations are necessary by calling 860-673-1441 X 1. (At present, the meals are offered as drive through "Grab & Go".)
Transportation: Volunteers provide free transportation for Farmington and Unionville seniors to routine medical & dental appointments in area towns when families or other agencies are not available. We require a minimum of 48 hours notice and rides are limited to twice a month. Those people using this service must be able to walk into their appointments on there own but may use the assistance of a walker, cane or crutches.
Medical Equipment Program: Services for the Elderly loans out donated used medical equipment for a small storage & handling fee. The loan closet contains an assortment of items such as walkers, wheelchairs, canes, commodes, elevated toilet seats, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, bedrails & much more.
Income Tax Assistance: During tax season, AARP tax volunteers provide free income tax help for Farmington seniors. Call after January 1st for an appointment. AARP Tax Aide is in Farmington only on Thursdays starting in February through April.
Additional Services Include: "Friendly Shopping", "Forget-Me-Not", "It's Good to Get Out" and a listing of area providers of aid and assistance both private and through agencies.
What We Do
Our Mission: To assist older citizens with maintaining their desired home lifestyle relative to their meals, transportation, socialization, home medical equipment and maintenance.
Who We Are: Services for the Elderly of Farmington is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing valuable programs and services to Farmington’s senior citizens.
Established in 1965 by two Farmington residents, Hope Emery and Dorothy Sinclair, Services for the Elderly was designed to be an independent service, identifying seniors in need of assistance and designing and implementing programs and services that meet each person’s individual needs.
The organization, which now includes more than 150 volunteers, was incorporated as a non-profit agency in 1969. It has been a Partner Agency funded by the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut since 1970. The organization receives additional support from the town of Farmington, area churches, local service organizations and private donations.
Services for the Elderly of Farmington, Inc. is governed by a Board of Directors representing all areas of the town, and a fulltime Executive Director.
